Birth
There is not much ceremony to a child's birth in the New Dawn, he or she is written in the scroll with his or her blood as ink and is from that day forward a member of its people, however one event is special. The first night that the baby sleeps through the blade forged by his or her father is given to it in the crib and still stay with him or her forever since then.
Growing up
When a child is born into the New Dawn (that is at least one of the parents is a member and choses for his or her child to become a member of the New Dawn or a child is adopted by a member of the New Dawn) they are given the blade that will become a part of them for the rest of their lives by their father, should he be dead or otherwise unable to do so the mother will chose a male that she for her own reasons considers worthy to do so instead.
The child then stays with his or her parents the following four years during which the mother will be creating the crest (read guild cloak or whatever will be available in game to show what guild you are from) of the New Dawn with her Dathanars colors, with the crest finally completed the child is then presented with it and wearing it he or she is taken away from his or her family. Many years of harsh training follows, general combat training at first where the young are closely monitored to see what specialty they are best suited for. When they have been chosen by a clan the next stage of their training begins and they are tutored in the field of their clan to become the best they can in it, however training with the blade is never given slack as though some clans are not even supposed to enter hand to hand combat it is still the pride of a member of the New Dawn.
If the Theroshan (student) has survived the training he or she will eventually be deemed ready by his or her Dorini during a examination that takes place once a month and then finally be allowed to return home. So what about the training, what is it like? While the training is very harsh and dangerous, practicing with sharp weapons and deadly spells, team work is foundation in everything and no one can hope to finish the training without truly feeling that comrades are brothers and sisters.
Becomming a Theroshan
The tradition of the students is a bit tricky since the New Dawn will accept members into its ranks that were not born inside the House and hasn't followed its traditions. Thus we'll start with explaining how that is taken care of: New members of the New Dawn that has not always been a part of it go through an induction ceremony where his or her name is signed into the scroll, after that he or she receives a crest crafted by mothers that lost their children. So in one sense they will be a little different since they are not given a blade because the lack of their bloodline within the New Dawn.
As mentioned in the Growing up chapter, the child whom is born within the new dawn will receive a blade from his or her father. Carrying the blade is a great honor within the new dawn, as it signifies the three laws of loyalty, Obedience and Balance. New members that has not been born within the house can still earn the right to carry the blade by following the protocol, read and learn our culture and throughout various tests of the three laws, in this case, the blade is forged by the Theroshan's Dorini.
Graduating to Shan're
Those of the New Dawn does not spend the rest of their lives as students, once a month the Dorini of ones clan holds a graduation event, which is different from clan to clan as the clans nature indeed are. It is common for those that are born in the New Dawn to complete their training at the age of sixteen, give or take a few years, and for them it is also a ceremony of becoming an adult, less so for those who joined the House in their later years, for them it is instead a proof of trust as they are now given the blade those born in the House receive upon birth, forged by their Dorini. When the rank of Shan're has been attained the person is counted as an asset of the House and from there on will be expected to do missions given by both his or her Dorini and Dathanar.
The next step, Balah
Many years of servitude will follow for those who have lived to complete their training, many still will find their end on the battlefield as the House's agendas are many and often solved through steel and blood. Still those who do survive and prove themselves to be elites in their clan are chosen to become Balah and lead their own squad of Shan're under their Dorini. The Balah have many privileges which they have deserved through their long and dangerous servitude, unlike other members of the New Dawn they are allowed to ride a mount and so distinguish themselves in the ranks as officers. They are also allowed a personal home in the city of Kathia and can thus begin a family unlike those of lower rank whom live in shared homes that can best be described as military barracks.
Everyday life
At first light the members of the New Dawn are woken by ringing gongs throughout the city, before breakfast it is time to tend to the blade which is the essence of their honor. It is polished, sharpened and inspected for any damage, if any is found then this must be corrected before ones daily duties can be attended. After breakfast ones own body is cared for, as Kathia is a densely populated city personal hygiene is important to prevent the spread of disease and infections. From there on follows a day of work which is very different depending on ones rank and clan there can be anything from arms training to working in the fields or doing research in the alchemists labs. The end of the day is reached when the sun sets, no one below the rank of Shan're is allowed outside after dark, for the rest this is the time to be free from ones duties and be merry, of course remembering their responsibilities when morning comes again.
The Network
as mentioned in becomming a Theroshan, every member of the New Dawn has signed their name in the same scroll with their own blood. This scroll which was made approximatly 21 years before the age of conan game release is imbued with both necromantic and demonic magic that aslong as the scroll remains intact allows the members of the House to share thoughts, images and sounds, through a hive-mind that is refered to as the network or the network. It is used when you quickly need to spread information and missuse clearly disturbing the rest of the members is punished. (( So the network is our guild chat and this is why it is in character. ))
Economy
In the New Dawn there exists no currency, as everyone is working for the greater good of the House they are provided free food and shelter. Anything one might need is provided by the House, anything else, is not allowed. Commerce does take place however, the House is still in need of gold to trade with outsiders, and such is gained by visitors to the local shops and by mercenary missions the House takes from those organizations and countries that it believes promotes civilization in some way. What to do with this money is decided by the council.
